Remember Me !!!!?????

Some time back, I went to see a relative, his kid and wife.

The mom wanted to play hide n seek with the kid. She went and hid without kid noticing. I asked the kid “mamma ..???, mamma ..???!!!”.

Without knowing any thing, he was puzzled, started searching for her.  He ran north, south, east, west all directions searching her. He couldn’t, his face changed completely in a while.

Suddenly she came back. The kid started jumping. He was pointing me, here is mummy “mamma…. mamma… mamma….”. He went and hugged her legs.

I had the same excitement when i saw you that day, after years.

But you blind, heartless lady…. Pretended as if you don’t know me…. Walked away with your husband…

Endhiran – Totally Impressed

Every cine site in India is posting something about this movie. I didn’t want to be one among those thousands of viewers/critics to write about it. I wanted to focus writing on stuffs which hasn’t been noticed by much.

With public request, also to clean the dust out of my site as it hasn’t been used for some time. I would like mention some points that I noticed in this movie.

Rajni as Chitti (Version 1 Robo) has impressed me a lot than the professor or Robo Version 2 . A lot of kids seems to be loving this character. I liked chitti to an extend that I started hating the Professor Rajni for sometime. In the process of pulling Aishwarya out of Chitti, Professor was too rude. I was able to understand the frustration/anger that Professor had, though. But sorry professor, I didn’t enjoy Kilimanjaro Song as it was right after you broke Chitti into pieces.

In think in the last 15 years, this is the one movie where Rajni didn’t have a boasting introduction. It was very normal, they just showed a common man working sincerely, tightening the screw for a robot. A large no of hard core fans may not have been able to whistle/scream or shower flowers. Introduction of Chitti was nice. Like a child, struggling to walk initially, walking normally, then walking stylishly. Even on the second week, family audiences were screaming when Chitti started to walk.

The first half was very interesting. A breezy romantic song, introduction of Chitti, funny/interesting dramas with Citti when he starts moving with common world, Chitti starting to understand/have human feelings-Love/affection/anger/possessiveness. I liked everything in the first half, even the dialogues were well written. The movie started at 2:30, when the interval was announced, it was 4.00. The time just flew without my knowledge.

The second half was little lengthy with no of songs, but eventually it is equalized by the mind blowing Climax sequences.

I feel, literally every thing are good in this movie. A good story, interesting screenplay, dialogues, acting, songs, BG music, amazing CG/Animation works. One can see the efforts they put in all these departments.

I didn’t like their previous movie Shivaji much. I felt it’s wasn’t a proper Rajni movie or Shankar movie. They could have done a lot better than what they did in Shivaji.

But I totally enjoyed Endhiran. I think they have properly utilized Rajni’s mass power, Shankar/Sujatha’s creativity and Sun pictures money/marketing power to give a world class movie. It’s no myth that the movie has pulled in 300Crs in 3 weeks.

Rajni has worked hard and excelled in three different characters. Scientiest, Chitti V1, Chitti V2. He has come out of his star images to fit into the characters well.

I liked few quotes mentioned in an article came in The Hindu.
In the last scene of the movie, In the year 2035, the Robot would be kept in a museum, the school teacher would explain the students “This is the most intelligent human android Robot created so far. But they decided to dismantle it completely”. A school girl would ask “why?”. Suddenly the Robot would respond “ Because I started thinking”. And synonymously, the Rajni has come out of his image and volunteered himself to good stories, “Because the audience have started thinking”.

This would be a benchmark movie, setting new standards for Indian movie.

So far, I have watched it twice. I don’t think, I will say no, even if someone asks me again. So, Are you coming with me?

Kalavani – Bringing out a regional slang.

Though Tamil is accorded as a classical/universal language now, spoken across the world, it isn’t spoken in the same way every where. Within Tamil nadu itself, it is spoken with different slangs in different regions.

Tamil cinema has used some of the regional slangs extensively well. Examples Chennai tamil, coimbatore/Erode, Thuthukudi tamil and off course madurai, thirunelveli slangs have been over killed with too much of usage (Don’t know when tamil cinema is going to show madurai/thirunelveli life as non-violent, any way we are not talking about that here).

Being a person grown up near pattukottai, i used to think that not many movie makers have explored the slang used in this region much. I am talking about the region from tanjor-pattukottai-kumbakonam-arantangi, The slang used here is also bit unique, you won’t see that in other parts of TN.

When i watched the movie kalavani, it was a pleasant surprise for me. The slang was so nicely used. I watched the movie second time just to see how people speak.

The director has to be credited for bringing out such things from the actors. I think he has cleverly opted for local new faces, but still it’s not easy to make them perform so naturally in front of the camera.

Some of the dialogues which i really liked in the movie,

Hero & sister “Please eluthikkudule, eh aayilla, ah ippo mattum aayi aayimba, appuram, ennala ennala solli thalayilaye kottuva”

Heroine “Kaavi vetti ellam katti irukeenga, maala pottu irukkiyalaa……. ayyanaru koyilukkellama maala poduvaha”

Driver friend “Avaru tinnu beerula kepparu, enga porathu”

And off course, the clever usage of slang alone doesn’t guarantee the success of a movie. The movie is nicely presented with fairly interesting screenplay. Though the story isn’t completely new, the movie is watchable for 2.5 hrs and i enjoyed most part of the movie.

Kudos to Director Sargunam and the team for bringing out such a nice village entertainer…

New Experience

It has been two years, since i purchased the domain smartchandra.com . I didn’t manage to post any thing so far. I was more inspired from smartpandian.com maintained by AAA. Thanks Arun, for inspiring me and repeatedly encouraging me write.

When i bought this domain in 2008, i thought i really have to write some thing different, interesting…. I used to spend days in preparing for some topic and give it up later.

Below are gist of those shelved topics.

Anadaman Trip (2008):- One of the most beautiful islands i have ever visited. Where else in this world, you will get to see clean pure blue ocean surrounded by mountains which is covered/decorated fully with thick, green forests.  Explored the forest, had long walks in hilly areas, floated/swam Hrs in the beaches. The Andaman jail, the baratang back water river, wasaga beach, corbyn cove beach, Ross/Viper/Northbay islands, the lime stones, port plair city, spicy south indian food, fish gravies etc, etc.

Ross Island

Ross Island

Have you ever traveled in a small ship, when there is a storm alert in the sea.  I went through those horrible moments. I literally prayed god to some how let my family know about my salary/NRI A/C details to claim all my money.  Due to that bad  weather, we couldn’t reach havelock island.  But we didn’t want to miss that fun. Got down from the ship, went to corbyn cove beach and enjoyed swimming/playing in the sea with heavy wind and heavy rain.  You don’t get those moments every now and then in your life.

Andaman – a dreaming spot for youth, families, honey-moon couples, any body. It just costed me 15,000 for the whole trip (out of which 11,000 for flights, now the flight charges are even cheaper). Don’t opt for any packages from net, just go and stay in any hotel, they will help you travel.

Ladak trip (2009):- A heavenly location. Yes truly. At times, you forget you are in earth, you all the way travel to moon, saturn, heaven. We spent 9 days for the trip, wish i should have got 2 more weeks of leave.

It’s not easy to go from one place to other place in ladak. The important visiting places are far away from each other and there are no proper road. It will be a tiring journey, but by the time you land on the places, you would forget your tiredness.

Some of the important places.

Pangong Lake:- This is a world famous lake in the india-china border. 1/3 of the lake resides in china. The lake is surrounded by blocks of mountains. As the ladak stands roughly 3,500m from sea level, plants cannot survive there, all those are dry mountains with just rock, stones, sands. In pangong lake, if you stay from morning to night, you would see that the lake and mountains would keep changing it’s colors as the sun moves on. As you walk on lake’s shore, you will witness different colors of water surrounded by different colored mountains.

Hmm, I will stop at this point. May be, i will see if i can write a separate blog for the trips alone.

I hope, i will continue to write more.
